How to Choose the Best Education Consultancy in Nepal

Checklist: what a good consultancy looks like

• Registered and permitted to operate by Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Ask to see the certificate.
• Membership of a recognised industry body such as the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN).
• Written, itemised fees and a clear refund policy before you pay.
• Direct, verifiable partnerships or representation agreements with universities.
• Counsellors who know the current visa rules for each destination and explain risks honestly.
• A physical office you can visit, with named staff and a consistent contact number.
• Support after the visa: pre-departure briefing and help after arrival.

Red flags and common scams

• Guaranteed visa or guaranteed admission promises. No consultancy controls an embassy decision.
• Pressure to pay large amounts quickly or to transfer money into personal accounts.
• Offers to arrange fake bank balances, fake experience letters or fake documents. These can lead to visa refusal and bans.
• Refusing to give fees or agreements in writing.
• Recommending only one university regardless of your profile.
• Reviews that are all identical, or no verifiable track record.

Questions to ask before you sign up

• Is your consultancy registered with the Ministry of Education? Can I see the certificate?
• Which universities do you represent directly for my chosen country?
• What exactly do I pay you for, and when? What is refundable?
• Who will be my counsellor, and how long have they handled this country?
• What happens if my visa is refused?
• Do you help with accommodation and pre-departure preparation?

Compare several consultancies

Visit at least two or three offices before deciding. Compare how carefully each one reviews your documents, how honestly it discusses your weak points, and whether it suggests options that fit your budget. A consultancy that tells you what you want to hear is not always the one that gets you there.

Talk to former students if you can, and read reviews across more than one platform. Ask parents or relatives who have been through the process which consultancies were honest with them. Remember that your own documents are your responsibility: read everything before you sign or submit it, and keep copies of every payment receipt and agreement.
